The person leading the funeral service, be it a religious minster or celebrant, will spend some time with you in the run up to the funeral date to discuss your wishes. This is an opportunity for them to get to know you and to learn about your loved one; they will ask questions about their life story, character and personality and from this information they will be able to piece together a service that is personal and relevant. They will also discuss music choices, readings, poems and verses, if anyone else wishes to do or say anything and any other special requests you might have.
Before meeting the officiant, we advise people to make some notes about their loved one; this will ensure all relevant information is passed on and you’re less likely to forget anything. Officiants are also willing to add more information later if you suddenly remember something and if you wish to see a copy of what will be said on the day of the funeral then you’re welcome to ask them.
