Someone’s Missing a Mum An original poem by Sean R. Childerley Someone’s missing a mum. And that someone is me. The mum who pulled me to the inside of the pavement, who watched every step I took, who held my small hand with a tenderness that made the world feel safe. Those early moments shaped me, and their echo has never left me. Someone’s missing a mum. And that someone is me. The mum who saw the adult I became and still saw the child in me. The mum who called me her little boy long after I’d grown, because in her heart I never stopped being that boy. Her pride in me was constant — loud and fierce, and somehow gentle. Someone’s missing a mum. And that someone is me. The mum whose love was everything she was — constant, unconditional, tender, and full. A love that wrapped itself around my life in ways I didn’t always understand, a love that always carried me, in ways I never had to question. Someone’s missing a mum. And that someone is me. The mum who made sure our voices met, who never let silence settle for too long, who held our connection with determined, wholehearted insistence, and whose closeness I’ll always long to feel again. Someone’s missing a mum. And that someone is me. My mum, who loved me first. The mum whose love I’ll never have again in the way only a mum can give. The mum whose love was deeper than anyone else could ever offer, because it came from the place where my life began. I’ll miss being her little boy. I’ll miss being hers. I’ll miss being loved like that. Someone’s missing a mum. And that someone is me. And now, Mum, every time I look in the mirror, I’ll look for your face. Because you are part of everything I am, and everything I’ll ever be. Someone’s missing a mum. And that someone is me.

We enjoyed such a lovely time at our respective sons wedding last year a beautiful time for two families to come together, and the messages that you and Wendy exchanged before and the months after that. So sorry that we didn’t have the opportunity of more time together. Rest in Peace Carol xxx

“Sister” I Need You to Hear Me Carol I’m talking to you because I don’t know what else to do with this pain. You left too soon, and I wasn’t ready — I don’t think I ever could’ve been. I keep wanting to tell you things, to ask your advice, to share something funny, to hear you say my name in that warm, familiar way. I hope you knew how much I loved you. I hope you felt it — in the holidays we shared, in the caravan trips, in the way we always found our way back to each other. I’m trying to be strong, but Carol… I miss you ❤️
