Uncle Vic had four loves, Betty, Tea, Golf, and Sky TV! Sitting at the table as a child, I’d offer to make him a cuppa, and he would always agree. Only for when my back was turned to tip it down the sink, so that “Bett’ could make it properly”. A day at there house would never be complete without an afternoon snooze, but of course, he was always “just resting his eyes”, despite the audible evidence to the contrary. Whenever we would talk, there was just a homely comfort in his voice and tone, I’ll never forget, and the belief he instilled in me, still drives me on today. When I left for Australia, I honestly thought I’d never see him again. But 5 years on, and three visits home, despite Covid, we made so many more memories, that I am ever so grateful for. Since Bett passed, I don’t think I ever took the time to stop and reflect. Rushing around with life’s aspirations, and the persistent daily grind. But Since Vic went, I often find myself stopping, just for a moment, to think of all the happy memories Both him and Betty gave to me. And I’m sure, that they both, now re-united, will be doing the same for others, wherever they are. I believe that we are all shaped by the people we meet, and the experiences that we have. I am ever so grateful, that Vic shaped a piece of me, and I have the memories that we do. Love you mate.
